Information Technology for Crisis Management
The group is a project of the Finnish Crisis Management Initiative.
Through appropriate use of ICTs, ITCM proposes to introduce new coordination mechanisms, concepts, and information about how to develop operational efficiency and safety of personnel and the local population. In addition, the project identifies and makes available information on new ICT initiatives and best practices about information-sharing models among the community of crisis responders.
The organisation undertakes professionally a number of high level activities to further these goals.
- High level ITCM conferences and workshops, attended by major players.
- The development of an incident mapping tool in partnership with the Virtual Diplomacy initiative
- Working with the Object Management Group to make some crisis management industry standards. These meetings are called Crisis Response Executive Advisory Team (CREATE) meetings.
