Description
Humanitarians everywhere are talking about standardising data collection. SHARE is, or was, that standard. I say was, because it seems less talked about now than when it was new, around 2001
I am unable to find a technical description of SHARE though there I did find a couple of summary documents, from Geographic Information support team, GIST, and one from OCHA
The idea seems to be simply that disaster collected should have some basic metadata associated with it, so the data can be put in context.
- the coordinates of the data, so it can be entered into a GIS system
- the time of the data, e.g. was it recorded before or after the disaster?
- the collector of the data, for accountability purposes
Perhaps someone who knows more can fill us in?
