HumaniNet
HumaniNet is a charity providing digital communication infrastructure in the field, working with tech organisations, volunteers, donors, and NGOS to enable the NGOs to work more effectively in the field. They list about 80 large and small NGOs and UN bodies they have helped in 43 countries.
They also run occaisional online seminars and field training.
Although HumaniNet concentrate on the hardware side of things, one project ventured into information management terrain in 2005, the Collaborative Workspace Project, to be built with Plone. There is a Plone site, HumaniNet community Centre not connected to the Collaborative workspace project page, which has been modified twice in 2007.
Perhaps Information Management was found to be a very different field to communication infrasturcture. All those implementing NGOs were very happy to have internet in the field, but sharing their data would have been another matter entirely.
